4. He's Tried To Kill Batman... A Lot

To be fair, it's normally Batman who seems to instigate a fight against the Man of Steel, but whether it's falling under the spell of villains like The Joker and Poison Ivy or being possessed by a demon, Superman has a long history of trying to take the Caped Crusader out. After all, seeing as they're supposed to be best friends, it's pretty surprising that Bruce has forgiven Clark for the time he tried to burn him at the stake as a witch.

This bizarre tale occurred when the World's Finest team travelled back in time together and some sort of ancient force took over Superman's mind. As if that wasn't bad enough that he had framed Batman for witchcraft, Superman beat up Benjamin Franklin and humiliated his pal by locking him up in stocks in the town square before secretly using his heat vision to start the fire which nearly burned him to death.

Of course, Batman got the last laugh when he took Superman out by throwing a Kryptonite pebble at his head, but this is yet another example of how the all-powerful Man of Steel can be more of a hindrance than hero.
