10 Times Supervillains Were HUMILIATED By Regular People

6. The Joker Is Shot By A Police Officer - Gotham Central #35

If there's one thing that's bizarre about most of the comics situated in Gotham City, it's that we barely ever see the police actually defeat a costumed criminal. We see them taking the villains in after the Dark Knight has beaten them, sure, but it's few and far between that we ever actually see a cop take a supervillain down.

That was, until Gotham Central came around.

Covering the lives of Gotham's Gordon-led police force, the series did what few ever thought to, showing us how people without Batman's training and equipment went about taking costumed crooks down.

While this came with many highlights, none were better than seeing how the detectives dealt with an escaped and violent Joker - namely, by shooting him three times in the back.

It's so entirely the opposite of how the Dark Knight would have handled the scene that it's hard not to adore. After all, how many comics feature the Joker being shot at repeatedly by countless people, only to escape completely unharmed? It's brutal, sure, but it's also undeniably nice to see the GCPD beat a villain instead of Batman for once.

I like my comics like I like my coffee - in huge, unquestionably unhealthy doses.
