10 Times The Avengers Ruined Bruce Banner's Life

3. Getting Other Heroes To Fight Him - Amazing Spider-Man Annual #3

Hulk Captain America Shield
Marvel Comics

When Spider-Man is tasked by the Avengers to try and find 'some way' to get the Hulk to them, your sympathy lies solidly with the web-swinger initially - after all, the Hulk is no easy match, and Spider-man is often given the worst beatdowns.

Then you see the Hulk, miserably roaming around lost and confused, and you start to feel really bad for the jolly green giant, much as Spider-Man does in the comic itself. Because the Avengers have sent a stranger that they don't really know to face their supposed ally and friend, with vague enough instructions that Spider-Man could do just about anything under the guise that "that's what he was told to do".

Though the ending shows that the Avengers didn't intend for Peter to do anything awful to their jolly green friend, it's worth noting that they literally never tell him that - and they also never appear to go and look for the Hulk themselves, for simply unfathomable reasons.

I like my comics like I like my coffee - in huge, unquestionably unhealthy doses.
