10 Times Villains Stole Superheroes’ Powers

7. Loki Steals Mjolnir - Journey Into Mystery #92

Loki Mjolnir
Marvel Comics

In a feat you'd presume would never successfully happen, Journey Into Mystery #92 features the Loki using his sorcery to steal Mjolnir right from the Marvel hero's hands, sending it into the chains that had been used to bind the villain, freeing him. Better yet for the God of Mischief, his magic turns the hammer magnetic, meaning it attaches itself firmly to the broken metal chains, leaving Thor unable to summon the weapon back to him.

In a hilarious twist, this doesn't stop the God of Thunder, as in his travels to find Mjolnir, he makes several other hammers to aid him on his quest, resulting in scenes of him carefully creating completely bizarre wood and stone weaponry. Though these look ridiculous, they successfully help him find Mjolnir, much to Loki's genuine surprise.

Although Loki technically also wields Mjolnir in Loki: Agent of Asgard #9, this is during the period of time that the Odinson is deemed unworthy, meaning Journey Into Mystery technically contains the only time that Loki has succesfully stolen the great hammer.
