Sean Cassidy, a.k.a. Banshee, was hit hard by the death of his wife Moira MacTaggert. Attempting to use his grief to be productive, Banshee created the X-Corps, a group of mutant adventurers who considered controversial for their policing of the mutant community, including brainwashing several Brotherhood members into joining. Clashing several times with the X-Men due to their questionable methods, the X-Corps was eventually undermined by Mystique, the woman who killed Moira. After helping these brainwashed mutants revolt, Mystique stabbed Banshee through the throat and attempted to take control of the X-Corps. Banshee survived and defeated Mystique, but lost his powers because of the injury. On the verge of healing mentally and physically, Banshee discovered some information on Xaviers recent disappearance. Flying back to America in the X-Mens Blackbird to deliver this information, the aircraft was taken over by Vulcan, who forced the Blackbird into a collision course with a passenger plane, and although his voice had healed enough that could have gotten out to save his own life, he attempted to use his sonic scream to deflect the Blackbird from crashing into the other plane. Unfortunately he was unsuccessful, and the planes crashed into each other, and Banshee was caught in the middle of the explosion. Banshee went through tough times, which all of us do. He was starting to heal from his injury when he learned something that needed to share with the X-Men. He could have gotten out of that plane and saved himself, but like any good superhero he put the lives of others before himself. Unfortunately, he was unable to accomplish either goal.
