6. Red & Green Kryptonite
What do you get when you take the colours of the two most famous forms of kryptonite? A third eye apparently. In Action Comics #275 Brainiac synthesised a variant of the mineral, forming a Green and Red Kryptonite which when used on Superman caused him to temporarily grow a third eye on the back of his head.
After the mutation Superman donned a hat to conceal the extra eye and would even act out a hat’s properties to help him solve crimes, leading everyone to draw the conclusion that he had gone mad. Eventually, when Brainiac attacked again, Superman used his heat vision from all three eyes to defeat him.
Seems like a handy power to have, really.
