10 Unbelievable DC Plot Twists That Shocked The World
2. "I Did It 35 Minutes Ago"
Alan Moore's third, and final, appearance on this list is one of the best comic book twists of all time, and only just missed out on the top spot thanks to some exceptional work by Geoff Johns.
Ozymandias's plan to force the world to unite against a common threat, that of a telepathic, biologically engineered creature being bampfed into the heart of New York City, killing millions in the process, is one that is as much a work of genius as it is of insanity.
But the real kicker here isn't that he is eager and willing to sacrifice so many innocents to save the rest, but the fact that he reveals all of this to Nite Owl and Rorschach.
When they confront him, and he lays it all out in its glory, Nite Owl is left to wonder "...when was this hopeless black fantasy supposed to happen? When were you planning on doing it?"
What follows is one of the best pieces of writing in all literature: "Dan, I'm not a Republic serial villain. Do you seriously think I'd explain my master-stroke if there remained the slightest chance of you affecting its outcome? I did it thirty-five minutes ago."
Alan Moore, you wonderfull madman, you.
