10 Unluckiest Comic Book Characters

9. Strong Guy

Spider-Man Spot
Marvel Comics

Strong Guy (Guido Carosella) experienced early tragedy. His parents were unfortunate enough to be killed by falling space debris, and Guido is the heir to this misfortune.

His mutant powers were activated by a combination of bullying and being hit by a bus, the latter transformed the once skinny boy into a large, muscle-bound mutant.

Most heroes are successful in taking calculated risks, Guido is not. His honourable actions to protect his teammates always result in personal misfortune. In the field, he absorbed an alien bomb meant for his X-Factor teammates. Though he saved the team, it caused him to have a massive heart attack putting him out of action. In recovery he decided to leave the superhero life behind.

After a misadventure where Guido was enslaved by a mutant fight club, he re-joined his fellow mutants. However, he was quickly killed taking a bullet meant for J. Jonah Jameson. Though he was resurrected by Layla Miller, he came back to life sans his soul, and was forced to fight for it in Hell.

Oblivious to lessons and his own misfortune, Guido again used his body to shield his teammates from a bomb, this time it (for another brief stint) killed him.
