Comic books are actually full of characters who suffer from disabilities. The likes of Professor Xavier, Ape X and, for a long period of time at least, Oracle were/are all wheelchair bound, Echo is deaf and Count Vertigo is partially deaf, Dr. Psycho suffers from dwarfism, countless characters are amputees (though, in comic books, this is often rectified with bionic implants) and there are many other characters with varying disabilities. The most common disabilities amongst comic book characters, however, are undoubtedly blindness and visual impairments and, just like the characters with the aforementioned other disabilities, in comic books this doesn't stop said characters from kicking some serious ass. In most cases of characters with eye problems, they compensate for not being able to see properly by honing their other senses or, in other cases, utilising supernatural powers and abilities that don't exist in the real world and their blindness or visual impairment can actually turn out to be a blessing in disguise.
