2. Daredevil (Blind)

Arguably the most famous blind character in all of fiction - let alone comic books - Matt Murdock AKA Daredevil is a street-level Marvel superhero with incredible combat prowess. Born and bred in the gritty Hell's Kitchen neighbourhood of New York City, Matt Murdock was blinded by a radioactive substance after it fell on him from an oncoming vehicle. While he can no longer see, the radioactive exposure heightened his remaining senses beyond normal human ability. After his father - a boxer named Jack - was killed by gangsters when he refused to throw a fight, Matt donned a costume and sought revenge against his father's killers as the superhero Daredevil. Trained by Stick, leader of the ninja clan the Chaste and a fellow blind man, Daredevil became an amazingly skilled fighter who was capable of throwing down with actual super-humans. He has links to numerous heroic teams and organisations including S.H.I.E.L.D., the New Avengers and the Defenders.
