2. Merlin
Merlin is a leopard given to Baron Winters by the legendary wizard of the same name although there have been rumours that he is a reincarnation of the wizard himself. A spotted leopard who sports a golden collar, he is fiercely loyal to his owner, rarely leaving his side, and highly protective of him.
The two are nearly always found inside Baron Winter's house, Wintersgate Mansion, from which they monitor the work of the Night Force and any developing situations they might need to become involved in.
Although Merlin is not aggressive, he is willing to attack if someone threatens Baron Winters. On occasion, however, the powerful enemies of his owner can scare him.
Merlin the leopard is shown to be exceptionally intelligent for his species but possessing all the other abilities of any other leopard. However Baron Winters frequently talks to Merlin as though the leopard can and does respond. He often interprets Merlin's expressions and growls as these responses. Merlin's intelligence and loyalty means he always obeys Baron Winter's commands.
