10 Weird DC Heroes You Won't Believe Exist

Back in the 40's and 50's, the bar was a lot lower for what could be considered a superpower.

Red Bee was one of numerous heroes that DC bought from the defunct Quality Comics. Like a great number of red-blooded Americans in WWII, district attorney Richard Raleigh decided to slap on a pair of brightly coloured tights and punch from Nazis.

As the Red Bee, Richard had a "stinger gun" which could knock out criminals. Much more importantly, he also had a group of trained bees the helped him to fight crime like a budget version of Ant-Man.

Now the obvious downside here is that bees can only sting once before they die. Luckily, Red Bee's bees were a special kind that could sting as many times as they wanted without dying. Basically, Richard Raleigh was a man who didn't know what wasps were.

He also had a special bee called Michael that he kept in his belt buckle for emergencies.

Unfortunately, during the dying days of the Second World War Red Bee encountered the one enemy he couldn't defeat (apart from anyone who isn't Nicolas Cage). The armoured villain Baron Blitzkrieg snapped his back, killing him instantly.

It is unknown if Michael the Bee also lost his life in the line of duty.

I was just a mild-mannered NCTJ accredited journalist until one day I found out the truth... that I could share my nerdy ramblings with people on the internet! It's just like mumbling to myself on the train, but without all the strange looks.
