10 Weird Marvel Heroes You Won't Believe Exist

2. Slapstick

Like a lot of heroes, Steve Harmon started off as just a normal teenager.

Steve was the class clown of his school until one day he found a portal disguised as a funhouse mirror. When he stepped through the portal, his entire body was remade into a new form composed of unstable molecules called Electroplasm. This transformed Steve into Slapstick, a living cartoon.

Steve's new body adheres to "cartoon physics". This gives him a whole host of powers, including superhuman durability and flexibility and the ability to pull objects from seemingly nowhere, just like a Looney Tunes character.

Slapstick had a series of adventures in his own solo comic, fighting enemies like the Neutron Bum and an army of clowns. Eventually, he joined the New Warriors and became friends with his teammate Speedball. He disappeared for a while after that but reappeared during Civil War.

In his initial appearances, Slapstick was portrayed as a lighthearted joker. However, later comics have revealed that Steve is now trapped in his cartoon form and that has slowly developed into severe emotional problems. Most memorably, when the Initiative trainer Gauntlet badmouthed the New Warriors, Slapstick beat him nearly to death with a hammer.
