10 Weirdest Comic Crossovers Of All Time
6. Wonder Woman/Shade, The Changing Girl
Sometimes comics are unfairly defined as weird because of ignored context, or a deeper meaning that can be easily ignored in favour of thinking it’s weird. The Wonder Woman/Shade crossover is categorically not one of these, however, because it’s one of few comics that - with or without context - is still an absolute wild ride.
Within literally two pages of the comic, we are presented with a statue of two women that spouts milk instead of water, in a place called the ‘hall of moms’. Against all odds, this isn’t the weirdest the comic gets, as it gently descends into the kind of nightmare you imagine a 1960s housewife might have had – only, the housewife is also Wonder Woman.
Maybe it’s a little naive to expect anything less than surrealism from the Shade series, and it an incredibly fun comic. But you have to feel a little for the folks who picked this up thinking it’d be just another regular Wonder Woman crossover, because it only ends up being the polar opposite.
