10 Weirdest Fantastic Four Villains Of All Time
5. Puppet Master
Philip Masters is a sculptor that moulds radioactive clay into the likeness of anyone he desires. Once he has moulded the clay into a person of his choosing, he is able to control them like a puppet master. After he takes control of his victim, he usually forces them to walk into hazardous situations or commit crimes on his behalf. Sometimes, he uses his clay to makes superheroes go on a crime spree in order to tarnish their reputation.
Now, "radioactive clay" may sound pretty goofy but the Puppet Master is very integral to the Fantastic Four stories. His blind step-daughter, Alicia, has assisted the team in many adventures and serves as the central love interest for the Thing (and she appeared in the first two official Fantastic Four films).
However, the Puppet Master's power become very silly in later comics. After Doctor Doom killed Masters, his consciousness refused to die and merged with his radioactive clay. In this new incarnation, he could possess anyone simply by moulding himself to match their shape.
I know the Fantastic Four stories are meant to be "fantastic" but a puppeteer transferring his mind into radioactive clay" is just... weird.
