10 Widely Mocked Comic Book Villains That Get A Bad Press
4. Juggernaut (Marvel)
First Appearance: The X-Men #12, 1965 Juggernaut may be a surprising character to find on this list - given that he is both a high-level villain and a fairly popular one - but it's the fact that he is simply seen as a brute whose only powers are enhanced strength and durability that makes him a legitimate inclusion. Granted, Juggernaut is presented as dumb on a fairly consistent basis, and weaker, faster characters like Spider-Man constantly jump around him and mock him, but if he was to get his hands on someone like Spider-Man he could tear him apart like he was a helpless rag doll. Juggernaut's strength is on a par with guys like the Hulk and his durability does, quite literally, mean that he is impervious to harm. Even on the few occasions that he received physical damage (such as the time he was burnt down to a skeleton by the demonic being D'Spayre), he doesn't show any signs of pain or discomfort, doesn't lose his powers and simply regenerates back to his normal form in no time. But the fact is that his power source - the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak - actually has so much more to it than just granting a physical boost. Juggernaut has shown that he can punch so hard that he can actually traverse dimensions and realities and, in the hands of other characters (such as the youngster "Stevie"), the gem which powers Juggernaut has been shown to animate wax statues, create diluted copies of super-powered characters, interact with computers around the continent and fire powerful energy blasts. If Juggernaut was given these powers, or given the respect he deserves for simply being so powerful on a basic physical level that he is practically unbeatable, he wouldn't get so much flack. It's fair to say this his goofy helmet (which actually protects him against telepathic attacks) and Vinnie Jones' portrayal of the character in X-Men: The Last Stand don't help how he comes across, but he is a legitimately big-time character who could potentially pose a threat to almost anyone.
