What can possibly be more evil than trying to end all of creation? What made this even worse, was the fact that this was a response to a failed attempt at enslaving all living beings.

The Final Crisis arc was like an all-or-nothing gamble for Darkseid. Before this, he had already lost to New Genesis and was even stripped of a physical form. However, as long as his essence still existed, Darkseid was always going to come back to haunt the universe.

After a carefully orchestrated plot that saw the successful implementation of the Anti-Life Equation on the Earth’s population (including superheroes), Darkseid had victory in his sights. Of course, this was not to be, as the remaining heroes eventually managed to turn the tide.

In the climax, a combined effort from multiple Flashes and Superman, along with a dying contribution from Batman, is enough to defeat the evil tyrant. Unfortunately for the heroes, and in fact the entire multiverse, this is where Darkseid shows how far he is willing to go. Instead of accepting defeat, Darkseid, whose continued existence was already causing breaks in space-time, tried to drag the entire multiverse down with him.

And he nearly succeeded too.
