10 Worst Marvel Superhero Costumes Of All Time

7. Shatterstar (1st Appearance)

Emma Frost
Marvel

Shatterstar was created by Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza for New Mutants #99 at the very beginning of the '90s, and the character falls prey to everything that was wrong during that time period in the comic book industry. It’s fashion over form, again. Something that looks good one time standing still but makes no sense in an actual fight.

Gaveedra Seven’s outfit is primarily white. The shirt is a billowing puffy pirate style that goes into two white gloves. Over the right shoulder is a gigantic leather arm pad that completely covers his right pec and bicep, which makes it difficult for Shatterstar to turn his head to that side. On his left is a cape that goes down past his left hand, and over his head is a face-revealing mask similar to a boxing guard.

At Shatterstar’s waist is a belt with huge pouches, and in the center is a dagger in a holder. The size and placement of this belt should make bending at the waist impossible. Golden strips go down the sides of each leg and end in a pair of golden boots. On Gaveedra’s back are four swords in holders, and due to the placement of the shoulder pad, it should make grabbing at least two of these swords difficult.

These are just a few of the functional issues that make this a bad outfit for a fighter like Shatterstar.
