10 Worst Marvel Superhero Costumes Of All Time

2. Invisible Woman’s “Liberated” Outfit

For some reason, in the '90s especially, ‘liberated” for female superheroes meant changing their costumes, wearing less clothing or the clothing had to be painted on, or the person became completely irrational and impossible to deal with... or both.

Far too often, strong was equated with mean and rude, and the only way to show strength was to show some skin. Marvel embraced the cheesecake aspect of their characters that was a staple of the '90s.

In Fantastic Four #371, Sue Storm was infected with the psychic entity Malice and declared that she was tired of being seen as just a mother in “those frumpy old flight suits”, and thus created a skin-tight outfit with a chest window cut in the shape of a “4”, an open torso and bare arms and legs with long gloves and high boots. She also had a high collar cut down at the neck and two completely unnecessary bands on each arm and each leg.

By Fantastic Four #375, Sue had added a leather jacket and a large belt with pockets and capsules on it, but it did little to improve the look of this outfit. Finally, by issue #387, the Invisible Woman had got all traces of Malice out of her psyche and returned to a more practical costume that only bared her shoulders.
