10 Worst Things Captain America Has Done

9. Stealing Hank Pym’s Wife – Ultimates #9

Captain America Janet van Dyne
Marvel Comics

The whole line of Ultimate comics was a great alternative to the standard 616 realm for a while there. Now, where some characters were given a new level of energy and intrigue, other famed heroes were made to be even more unlikable. Case in point: Hank Pym.

As part of The Ultimates – the Ultimate world’s take on The Avengers – Hank was even more of an erratic genius than usual. It seems that whatever version of Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne readers are given, the two are often incompatible for the most part; largely down to Ant-Man and his intense highs and lows.

In The Ultimates, the fragile relationship between Hank and Janet comes to an explosive head that sees Pym nearly kill his wife by setting thousands of ants on her shrunken form. While Wasp recovers from this, Cap decides to pay Hank a visit and proceeds to beat the ever living snot out of him.

Not content with this, Steve goes one step further and starts dating Janet.

Did Pym deserve his wife leaving him? Sure. But his good pal Steve Rogers instantly coming in to take his wife off his hands? Many saw that as overstepping the line.
