10 Worst Things The Justice League Has Ever Done
3. Disbanded And Moved To Detroit - Justice League Of America
Let's make one thing clear: we here at WhatCulture have nothing against Detroit. We bear no ill will towards what we're sure is a beautiful city, full of beautiful people. The same could not be said of long-term Justice League fans.
'The Detroit Era' has become known as the Dark Age of the Justice League of America comic book run. It wasn't that the League had turned to the dark side: it was just that the writers had turned to the bland, boring, and altogether uninspired side.
When he realised that all of DC's top tier heroes were just too gosh-darn busy with their own problems to run an effective Justice League, Aquaman disbanded the group, moved his centre of operations to Detroit, and started a League of his own.
That's right: Aquaman was the leader of this Justice League. And we're not talking about the cool, heavily tattooed, Khal Drogo-esque Aquaman who is so popular today. Hell, we're not even talking about the hook-handed badass Aquaman from Peter David's iconic run. This is pure, unfiltered, "the fish are my friends" Silver Age Aquaman.
Some of the new members tried desperately to make the team feel more modern, such as Vibe, the break-dancing teenager, but the whole thing was so random, weird, and anti-JLA that it fell completely flat.
Unsurprisingly, sales plummeted for this version of the team, and they were soon scrubbed from the record.
