10 Worst Things The Spectre Has Ever Done

7. He Destroyed The Nation Of Vlatava In An Act Of Vengeance

Spectre Jim Corrigan
DC Comics

The Spectre rededicated himself as an astral protector and aided the Justice League against The Grey Man in Justice League America #31-32 and Justice League Europe #7-8. He also defeated Abraxis and helped the Justice Society return from Limbo. The Spirit of Vengeance began to search for evildoers at all levels of the criminal scale, and that caused him to take over Corrigan’s life in favour of his quest. However, in Spectre #3 the Wraith caused the death of an innocent man and, for the first time in his existence, the ghost felt remorse.

Despite monopolizing his life, the Spectre began to embrace and understand human feelings better through his union with Jim Corrigan. He befriended and began to take a special interest in Amy Beitermann, a woman who Corrigan had fallen in love with. The Wraith tried to protect her, but being part of his life was dangerous and she was murdered. The Vengeful One was enraged and went on a murderous rampage and obliterated the tiny Eastern European nation of Vlatava.

The Wraith of God was next to pass judgement on all of humanity and was opposed by the most powerful magic users on Earth and the villain Eclipso, but no one unable to stop him. It wasn’t until Jim Corrigan overcame his grief that the Spectre was able to rediscover his humanity and reconsider his judgement.
