Alan Scott, the Golden Age Green Lantern, has also been known for his tragedies.

Jade, the daughter of Alan Scott and supervillain Rose & Thorn, was a founding member of Infinity Inc. and one of many in the ranks of DC's premier superhero team, the Justice Society of America.

Embued with her father's magical green energy, Jade could also control plant matter like her mother.

She was later accepted into the Green Lantern Corps and became Earth's first female Green Lantern. She served as an invaluable member to the Corps and even formed a romantic relationship with Green Lantern Kyle Rayner.

However, her heroism was cut short during 2006's Infinite Crisis where she died helping to save a star system. Jade accompanied her father and Kyle Rayner on a mission to stop energy waves destroying the planet Rann, home to Adam Strange, and the Hawk-World of Thanagar.

Jade was unable to survive the force of the energy waves and died in space. In her final moments, she was able to transfer her powers to Kyle - giving him enough strength to escape from the waves.

Wanting to be left alone with his daughter's remains, Scott was further anguished when another energy wave reduced Jade's body to dust.

This was a particularly harrowing moment for Alan Scott and Kyle Rayner, but also marked the loss of a fan-favourite character.
