11 Reasons You're Wrong About Marvel Legacy

4. Spirits Of Vengeance Is Everything

Spirits of Vengeance 1 Marvel Legacy
Marvel Comics

Despite being the subject of a largely underrated series in 2014, Ghost Rider has, for the most part, been absent from the Marvel universe.

The same applies to Blade, who, despite having led three feature films, a TV show and multiple comics in the past, has struggled for a comic book of his own for some time now. While Spirits of Vengeance isn't the solo series we've been waiting for, in that respect, it is the next best thing, and features the character teaming up with Ghost Rider, which is a match made in Hell if we've ever seen one.

For context: the original Spirits of Vengeance series was a Ghost Rider book through and through, and saw the then Ghost Rider, Danny Ketch, join forces with the OG rider - who fans will know as Johnny Blaze (also Cage) - to avert a spiritual threat. This series will follow a different path however, with Daimon Hellstrom, Satana and Johnny Blaze (oddly sporting Ketch's Rider style, but whatever) all teaming up to stop an otherworldly threat.

It makes sense to pool all of Marvel's supernatural characters together, especially since it's an area DC have had them beat in for decades now, but it would be even better to have another Rider/Daywalker series to follow it. Either way, it illustrates Marvel are willing to broaden their horizons with Legacy, and return to aspects of their brand that have gone unnoticed for far too long.

Content Producer/Presenter

WhatCulture's very own resident movie guy, Ewan has been working in the content creation biz for over 10 years now, having started as a freelance contributor to WhatCulture Gaming all the way back in 2015. After graduating with a First-Class Honours in History from Northumbria University in 2017 (where he won a prize for a totally killer dissertation on the Watergate years), Ewan took on the role of Comics Editor at WhatCulture and quickly developed WhatCulture Comics into one of the biggest superhero-focused channels on YouTube. He followed this with a brief hiatus at Screen Rant in 2021, where he worked across the Gaming and Film sections as a writer and editor, before returning to WhatCulture as a Senior Content Producer / Presenter in 2023. He started his own podcast, We Love Dad Movies, in 2022, and has contributed several written pieces to the Eisner-nominated comics website Shelfdust as well. In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir. John Carpenter is his fave, and he thinks Batman Beyond should never have been cancelled. If that's your vibe, you'll probably like his stuff.
