9. The Crimson Centipede
In one story, the goddess of love, Aphrodite, tells the god of war Ares that no man can equal Wonder Woman's ability in "combating crime and injustice". To prove her wrong, Ares says he will create a champion to destroy her, proving females are the weaker sex.
Since Ares is a literal god, his power is virtually unlimited. Of the countless creatures he could conjure up to defeat the Amazonian, he decides a gigantic centipede is his best bet.
Don't get me wrong. Ares' champion, The Crimson Centipede, is pretty tough to beat. He has 16 arms, 12 legs, and is armed with eight guns. Fighting him is no picnic.
It's not the Crimson Centipede's ability that's the problem. It's everything else. He looks ridiculous. Why is he a centipede? After being defeated time and time again by Wonder Woman, why did Ares think this guy was going to be the one to put her down for good?
And what is the first thing the Crimson Centipede does? He robs a bank. Why do supervillains always rob banks? Do the writers have any imagination? What's he going to do with the money?
Also, I must repeat myself - WHY is he a centipede?
