12 Best Redesigns Of Superhero Costumes

6. New X-Men

Spider-Man Black Suit
Marvel Comics/Frank Quitely

The original X-Men, back in the day of pre-blye-furred Beast - had the yellow and blue aesthetic going, but afterward, characters began adopting their own distinct looks. Cyclops had the mostly blue with yellow, Wolverine was yellow with black touches, etc. The unified look of a team, a la the Fantastic Four, was abandoned for the most part.

When Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely took the reins for their run with the Mutant hero team, they brought a collective identity with him. The black jackets, emblazoned with a large yellow X, and adorned with small yellow X patches on the arms, granted the group a modern look, without detracting from the characters themselves.

Frank Quitely did a masterful job of allowing the character designs, rather than those individual costumes, to define these heroes for a new era, and this was the perfect way to start.
