12 Best Redesigns Of Superhero Costumes

5. Green Lantern

Spider-Man Black Suit
DC Comics

Yes, more cape-ditching is here, but this time, for a hero on the other brand. The original Green Lantern, the Alan Scott version, was a goof. He had a little black mask, a big green and black cape, and a red shirt. He was basically your dad lazily cosplaying as a superhero.

But when Hal Jordan came along, the costume was not just revitalized, it was virtually resurrected from the dead. The cape, slacks, and little mask were gone, and in its place was a bodysuit that felt designed for flight. This was a hero who soared through the cosmos, not one who scampered through alleys.

Credibility was instantly restored with this redesign, as the Green Lantern outfit became the basis for the costumes for the entire Corps, making it a uniform, rather than a costume, and one that could be worn proudly.
