12 Captain America Moments That Shocked The World

4. Captain America's Rebirth

Captain America Vampire

In comics, death is more like an inconvenience rather than a tragedy. Supervillains are seen blowing up or falling off a cliff only to return a few issues later, fit as a fiddle. It's a rule in comics; if you don't see the body, the character is still alive.

But Cap's demise was a little different. He was shot in the heart and his body was buried. The writers would need a really convolution explanation to figure out how Cap could survive... being dead.

Two years he was shot, the truth was revealed about Captain America's "assassination". Cap was not shot with an ordinary gun. He was shot with a Time-Gun. (Bear with me, this is about to make less sense). When Cap was shot by the Time-Gun, it gave the illusion his body was dead while his consciousness was sent through the time-stream. This was all part of the Red Skull’s plan, who intended to transfer his own consciousness into Cap.

When Skull succeeded in his plan, Cap’s consciousness instinctively knew somebody was trying to hijack his body and it forced Cap to regain control of his body. This means that the Red Skull had the opportunity to kill Cap and instead, saved his life.
