12 Greatest Marvel Superheroes Of All Time

4. Hulk

Marvel Universe Alex Ross
Marvel Comics

One of Marvel's most popular characters is easily its least understood. The Hulk made his first appearance back in The Incredible Hulk #1 in 1962 thanks to the talents of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. The character was initially a combination of Frankenstein's Monster and Doctor Jekyll and Mister Hyde, but has evolved considerably since he first appeared.

Over the years, the Hulk has appeared in thousands of comic books, dozens of video games, multiple movies (prior to Mark Ruffalo's brilliant performance as the character in the MCU ), television series including a successful live-action one from the 1970s, animated series, and more.

The Hulk is easily one of Marvel's most popular characters... after all, who doesn't love a giant rage monster capable of destroying the planet with his fists?

Storylines rooted in the character including World War Hulk, which saw the character at his absolute angriest, prove the Hulk has room to grow in terms of character development. That's an impressive feat for a character more 55 years old. Whatever his future may bring, there's no doubt fans will continue coming back for more... so long as they don't make him angry (they wouldn't like him when he's angry).
