13 Fantastic Four Stories & Villains We Could See In MCU Phase 4

10. Doctor Doom

Doom The Sorceror
Marvel Comics

Doctor Doom was Stan Lee's favourite supervillain. He described the character as “a soul-stirring, super sensational new villain". Despite this chilling description, Doom has always been depicted in the films as an evil scientist.

Doom is not just "an evil scientist". He is a king. He is a warlock. He is one of the greatest supervillains of all time. So how do you showcase such an iconic character in a movie?

Well, as the Amazing Spider-Man proved, if an audience is familiar with a character's backstory, we don't need to see it again. We never saw Thanos' backstory and he's the MCU's best villain.

When Doom is inevitably introduced, he can already be established as the monarch of Latveria.

In terms of what stories could be adapted, Marvel Studios have their choice of the litter.

In the comics, he has unleashed the Devil's forces on Earth after he tried to save his mother's soul from Hell. He's time-travelled to the past to steal the powers of Merlin and Morgana Le Fey. He's travelled to the future with the Fantastic Four to prove Reed Richards will destroy the world. He forced Richards to swap minds with him, allowing him to become the leader of the team. He became Iron Man. He has ruled his own universe. He literally became God.

Come on, Marvel! Take your pick and make Doom proud!
