13 Truths Comic Book Fans Would Never Admit To Themselves

1. You Love Rob Liefeld

What You Say: Rob Liefeld. Scourge of the 90s. Proliferator of awful, clichéd books and characters like Youngblood. The man who is incapable of drawing feet. The man who gave Captain America breasts. The man who has worked for and then quit Marvel and DC numerous times over the years. He€™s a terrible artist and an even worse writer and it€™s unbelievable that he can still plague the comic industry after all these years. How does he keep getting work? But What You Really Mean: Liefeld sells books. Lots of books. Go to any comic convention and you€™ll see long lines of fans waiting for him to sign their books. Even with everything bad that€™s been said about the man on the Internet, he still pushes on and keeps on doing what he€™s doing. And given that he still makes enough money to pay the bills, that must mean that the Internet commentary is far from the prevailing wisdom. Sure, he may not be the most realistic artist, and yeah, his writing may leave something to be desired, but Liefeld clearly loves comics, or else he wouldn€™t keep doing it. And he has fans, because it€™s highly unlikely those lines are composed of hipsters who like him ironically. Like this article? Let us know in the comments section below.
