The Beginning Of A Beautiful Friendship In all great one-on-ones, in all legendary face-offs, in all defining confrontations, there is always that first moment where enemies meet. In Issue #14 in 2013 of The New 52 Batman, writer Scott Snyder gives us that first encounter we've all long wondered about and waited for: Batman meets The Joker. Standing atop a bridge, Batman comes face to face with the man, or maniac, he had long since thought gone, though not necessarily defeated. The Joker subdues Batman on this bridge, and they go back forth trading quips and one-liners, until Joker blows up the bridge and Batman breaks free, surprising The Joker in his resilience. This is a defining moment for our favorite hero and villain, and one that opens the door for their history to now unfold.
