A Humble Beginning In the first few pages of the premiere issue of the Zero Year story line, we find a new Batman on his very first Bat-cycle. In a scene that's part Mad Max and part first contact, we see for the first time a Batman that's new to society: loaded down with all of his gadgets and necessities, a knife strapped to his boot, and on a motorbike that's, of course, emblazened with a giant Bat-symbol across the handlebars. Batman helps a youth under attack by a group of thugs, dispatching them with ease and returning the property they had attempted to steal. This page was great piece that includes not only the first Bat-cycle, but also a short-sleeved, stripped down Bat-suit, complete with a crossbow strapped to his back. Batman is stripped to his core in this scene while making his debut, a man making the best of what he has at his disposal, while learning what it's going to take to get the job done. And never one to shy away from stopping a crime in progress, Batman doesn't discriminate on race, age, or gender - mess with the innocent, and you will pay his price.
