Batman Loses Another Robin In photo above, artist Greg Capullo created a very moving tribute for the cover of Batman #18, with a shot of Damian's empty boots, with a robin sitting on top of them. This is the same visual firefighters and soldiers use when honoring their dead, those who have given their lives protecting what they believe in and doing the job they so loved to do. Probably one of the best covers of all time as far as comics go, and certainly one of the best images of 2013. One of the more interesting things in the Bat-comics in recent years has been the inclusion of 10 year old Damian Wayne as the new Robin. Raised by his mother Talia Al Ghul inside the League Of Shadows, Damian leaves the League and joins his father's side, becoming the 5th Robin, and arguably the most brutal and unpredictable Boy Wonder in the history of the character. In February 2013, Damian Wayne was killed. In Issue #8 and at the conclusion of the Batman Inc. comic book, Damian is forced to fight one on one against an adult clone of himself called The Heretic, sent by his mother to kill him for leaving The League and then joining his father, instead of killing him like they had hoped he would do. Damian is impaled by Heretic's spear, and killed instantly. He is buried in the Wayne family cemetary alongside his paternal grandparents, and Batman vows revenge, refusing to mourn the loss of his only son whom he was at odds with often, but whom he grew to love very much.
