Mystique is a fascinating character who has taken on the role of hero and villain many times over the years, though unlike her big screen counterpart played by Jennifer Lawrence, the character almost always ends up reverting to her evil ways. She's also been portrayed in the comics as more than just an ally to Eric and Charles as she at one point assembled her own very effective Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. Mystique's list of crimes is a long one, though the reasons for her actions are often much more complex and interesting than your typical bad guy. In recent years, she's allied herself with Sabretooth and even succeeded in sending Wolverine straight to hell, but she's still known to play both sides as she works for and against her follow mutants in a quest for money, power, and influence in the Marvel Universe.
