15 Most Controversial DC Retcons Of All Time

9. Alan Scott Likes Dudes

When DC began The New 52, all of their Golden Age Justice Society characters disappeared from their main universe. Eventually, they were shipped back over to Earth 2, which got a major face-lift, as all of these Golden Age characters were severely de-aged. No longer were these the legacy characters that fought during WWII against the Nazi armies; rather they were fresh faces with new origins. In reality, they might as well have been new characters all together. Out of all of these golden age characters, Alan Scott was the one whose revision was the most jarring; the first issue of Earth 2 showed Alan proposing to his long time boyfriend, Sam. Over the past few years, DC has tried really hard to diversify their line; however, many fans where upset at how heavy-handed the changes have been. Needless to say that there was some mixed reactions from fans concerning Alan Scott€™s new orientation. Many felt that this change felt forced, while others praised DC for their attempts at inclusivity and promotion of diversity.

Since childhood, Bryant has been an avid fan of superheroes, and he has been reading comic books since 2006. His full name is "George Bryant Lucas"; however, after enduring countless Darth Vader jokes, he has chosen to go by his middle name. Born and raised in the United States, Bryant is currently living with his lovely wife in the country side of Wiltshire County, UK. Bryant does suffer from a mild case of dyslexia; misspellings and homonyms are to be expected on occasion.
