20 Bonkers Classic Comics Adverts You Won't Believe

9. Real Mobile Tank

What kid could say no to A REAL MOBILE TANK, Over 6 Ft Long? Which is a somewhat troubling thing to be sold in a comic book. For kids. There is a reason tanks are solely the preserve of militaries: they need an expert to pilot them, who can also be trusted not to fire shells at school bullies and dog houses and stuff. Thankfully, the REAL MOBILE TANK turned out to be nothing of the sort. Surprising for something that you could buy by cutting out a coupon and sending it, along with the princely sum of $4.98, eh? In fact it didn't boast any of the capabilities it claimed to: no intercom system, revolving turret, controls. It was made of cardboard.
