18. He Pretended He Had A Twin Brother
The 1960s were a strange time for comic books (just ask Batman), but one of Marvel's most ridiculous tales involved Matt pretending that he had a twin brother called Mike in order to protect his secret identity. He didn't really have much of a choice though, especially after Spider-Man sent him a letter saying he knew he was Daredevil...a letter read by Karen Page! What followed was a year of Mike playing a supporting role in Daredevil. Despite the fact that he, Matt, and Daredevil were never seen together, this ruse somehow tricked everyone, but Stan Lee soon realised how daft it was and wrote Mike out. Years later, this bizarre tale would serve as a basis for other writers to explore the character's mental health issues.
