While there have been many changes in the comics industry over the years, one thing remains the same: its still run by mostly white men. While in todays multicultural world where race and representation are major issues, back in the 30s and 40s civil rights were still a few decades away. Therefore, comics of this era are notorious for caricaturing individuals from other races. The Spirit #10 is a perfect example of how African Americans were portrayed during this era. Notice that the guy in the corner has wide eyes and stereotypically large lips; hes far more cartoony than The Sprit. Also, the caption on the cover implies that hes a criminal.
Since childhood, Bryant has been an avid fan of superheroes, and he has been reading comic books since 2006. His full name is "George Bryant Lucas"; however, after enduring countless Darth Vader jokes, he has chosen to go by his middle name. Born and raised in the United States, Bryant is currently living with his lovely wife in the country side of Wiltshire County, UK. Bryant does suffer from a mild case of dyslexia; misspellings and homonyms are to be expected on occasion.
