Right now the Avengers are one of the hottest properties in comics, but back in the early noughties they were in disarray. Or rather, they were disassembled, as the storyline of the same name saw the superhero team torn apart - in some cases literally - when stalwart member Scarlet Witch launched an attack on her former comrades. Electing to break up the band Captain America, Iron Man et al went their separate ways. That was until a major jailbreak happened at the supervillain prison known as The Raft, and a new group of heroes were flung together once more. Joining Steve Rogers and Tony Stark this time were Spider-Man, Luke Cage, and - surprising everyone - The Sentry. Whilst his fellow heroes struggled to contain a riot comprised of metahuman criminals who had personal histories with those hoping to shepherd them back to their cells, The schizophrenic Superman analogue appeared out of nowhere, grabbed the symbiotic serial killer Carnage, flew him into the stratosphere - which, honestly, would probably have been enough to finish him off - and then tore him in half. Like literally limb from limb. That's one way to do it, we guess?
