20 Worst Ever Comic Book Sidekicks

4. Doiby Dickles (Green Lantern - Alan Scott)

First Appearance: All-American Comics #27 (June 1941) It's almost like DC knew a list like this would be written, even back in the 1940's, so they strived to create as many cringe-worthy sidekicks as possible. The first Green Lantern had the incredible power to create anything he could imagine with the use of a special ring. His sidekick Doiby Dickles drove a taxi and wore a bowler hat. Genuinely, that's about the extent of his skill set... oh wait. He also had the most annoying Brooklyn accent you could ever imagine. It's probably easier to read Zatanna's backward spells than Doiby's 'Brooklynese' and I can guarantee it'll be less suicide inducing. Once Doiby realised his slogan "Soivice that don't make youse noivice" wasn't catching on, he became involved with an alien princess called Raima and buggered off to her planet, only occasionally returning to remind DC writers that the classics aren't always as great as those rose-tinted glasses would have you believe.
