20 Worst Ever Comic Book Sidekicks

16. Zook (Martian Manhunter)

First Appearance: Detective Comics #311 (January 1963) With a name like Martian Manhunter, J'onn J'onzz was never going to be the easiest superhero to relate to. Thank god then that the writers gave him an alien sidekick named Zook who accompanied him throughout all his wacky adventures in the 1960's. Seriously, what comic book fan in their right mind would find it difficult to relate to a weird alien pet thing that can alter its temperature and track living beings with its antennae? By the end of the decade, Zook disappeared without explanation, abandoning the Martian Manhunter for good. What kind of sidekick abandons someone who's the last living survivor of his race? A creepy ass alien dog thing, that's who!
