23 Problems Only Comic Book Readers Will Understand

3. That Anxious Wait For The Next Issue

Having to wait for the next instalment of your favourite character's adventures is a real pain. When you're waiting for the next episode of a television series, you know exactly when that is going to be presented to you in your living room. With a comic, for most people it's a case of either ordering it from the internet and waiting for the postman to deliver it on an unspecified day or it's a case of having to travel thirty miles to your nearest comic book store to pick it up on the day. Seriously, it's torture.

2. Getting Bored Of Repetitive Storylines

Tragic backstories. Hero loses his/her powers and must confront the villain whilst powerless. He/she only did that because he/she was mind-controlled or insane. Villain is working with heroes with a secret ulterior motive. Universal threat is going to eliminate every living creature on Earth etc etc etc. Yawn. Regardless of the company or the title, comic book stories all seem to contain the same plot elements. Granted, it's difficult to keep things fresh after all these years, but for goodness sake try at least.

1. The Fact It's Becoming Cool To Be A Comics Fan Now

Oh so NOW you realise that comic book fans have been cool all along? Lovely. Growing up, most comic book readers have been mocked, laughed at and outright abused by those around them for being "geeks" and "nerds" - and yet now it's suddenly cool to be associated with comics. Could it be due to the increase in sexy female cosplayers at comic conventions? Could it be due to the mainstream movies based on the comics that are now so popular? Or could it simply be that these awesome characters and stories have always been cool and people are only just starting to realise? Either way, after years of the aforementioned abuse, to see hot girls dressed as comic book characters, Marvel and DC characters appearing on fashionable clothing items in high street stores and actors and celebrities almost relentlessly proclaiming their love of specific comic books is something of a bummer for those who have been fans and readers of comics for years.
