5 Common Comic Book Questions With Obvious Answers

3. Who Wins In A Race: The Flash Or Superman?

Magneto Thor
DC Comics

As prominent members of the Justice League and the DC Universe, Superman and various iterations of the Flash have been trusted allies and fan favorites for decades. Although both are firmly on the side of good, that doesn't preclude a friendly rivalry.

Supes and the speedster have raced at various moments for reasons ranging from charity to healthy competition. Still, if both ran to their highest potential, The Flash would leave Superman in the dust.

To understand why, you merely have to accept what gives each character to their tremendous speed. Superman absorbs radiation from our yellow sun, greatly increasing his physical attributes. With this said, as powerful as Superman is, his speed is a feat of strength and still must yield to physical law. In fact, Superman should never be able to go any further than the speed of light (although he has been shown to go several times faster in the comics).

The Flash, on the other hand, has access to the Speed Force, an energy source that allows its' wielder the ability to break the physical limits using super speed. One is hindered by natural law in a way the other isn't.

When you want to know who would win a foot race, the guy who doesn't have to obey the laws of physics is a safe bet.
