5 Great Comics That Will NEVER Happen Again

3. The Dark Knight Retuns

Unlike with the previous two entries, there's solid proof that The Dark Knight Returns probably isn't going to be replicated ever again - sequels. And not just any old sequels either, but ones that are just plain bad.

There are plenty of parts about the original TDKR that don't work (a lot of its politics really haven't aged well, for starters) but overall the comic was awesome and groundbreaking and all those other flowery buzzwords that permeate comics discourse.

Need anyone even mention The Dark Knight Strikes Again? A comic that was the kind of bad that fans foolishly believed was impossible? Though The Master Race wasn't nearly as mind meltingly terrible - mostly due to them booting the long since crazy Frank Miller and bringing on the only slightly less crazy Brian Azzarello - it didn't have the staying power to actually reactivate anyone's interest in this part of the DC multiverse.

Sure, they might try again, but due to Miller's antics both on the page and off it, DC might find it in their best interest to put this franchise to bed for good.
