Lauren Shuler Donner knows superhero movies. Her late husband, Richard Donner, was responsible for 'Superman: The Movie' and the world is a better place for it. It was an astounding success. Years later, Lauren Shuler Donner would embark on a cinematic superhero quest of her own, reigniting the caped craze with Bryan Singer's 'X-Men,' which she produced, along with every other X-Men film. In
Donner's interview with Crave Online, she mentioned she had worked with Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige previously, and that if he was on board she would be as well. Despite their cozy relationship, the difficulty of this coming to fruition is close to zero. Fox has the X-Men franchise; Sony, Spider-man. And Paramount has the highest-grossing superhero movie ever in 'The Avengers.' It's a recession, why share the wealth? Hell it rarely happens in comics. Fans twisted Marvel and DC's arms for years to combine, and they have, with mixed results. Of course, this was before Marvel was acquired by Disney and thusly given the keys to the Magic Kingdom, budget-wise. The prospect of a three-headed behemoth of this sort is out of the question.
