Eric Brooks aka Blade is a hybrid, half human and half vampire, which affords him the ability to do things most vampires cannot such as being exposed to sunlight and his genetics make him resistant to the powers of other vampires.

Eric's mother was feasted on by a vampire named Deacon Frost while she gave birth to Eric, resulting in her death. During the ordeal, vampiric blood enzymes were transferred to Eric causing him to take on aspects of the undead being.

As his mother was murdered by a vampire, Blade embarked on a life-long vendetta against them and became a slayer. Eric isn't a one-trick pony, however, his experience with killing vampires has exposed Blade to a wide range of strange beings and supernatural threats.

Blade has fought alongside a lot of Marvel's heroes including Spider-Man, the X-Men and Dr. Strange and Eric even enjoyed membership on Luke Cage's Mighty Avengers alongside the likes of Blue Marvel, She-Hulk and Falcon.
