50 Reasons Why Superman is The Greatest Superhero Ever

15. He Sacrificed Himself For Earth

And he's done it over. And over. And over. And over. He's spent so much time using himself as a shield to protect the planet it's insane that he's only died once. The most groundbreaking instance happened when he fought the monstrous Doomsday and battled with him to the death. Superman ultimately did die in combat, but Doomsday did as well.

14. He Survived Death

Superman managed to overcome the concept of death because of his willingness to accept it as an inevitability. Only when he realized that his kryptonian make-up could render him immortal could he come back to life and get back to work as Superman. It's cheesy, but I don't care, he beat death, suck on it.

13. The Phantom Zone > Arkham Asylum

Sure Arkham Asylum has deadly criminals, psychopaths and the dregs of humanity. It contains some of the dealiest criminals on Earth. Repeat: It contains some of the deadliest criminals. On Earth. The Phantom Zone houses some of the deadliest beings in the galaxy. These are beings Superman shudders just thinking about. These are beings so utterly cruel and vicious, they had to be doomed to a netherrealm prison. They're beings so powerful and deadly should they set foot on Earth, they'll break it in two. Arkham has some truly interesting rogues, but the Phantom Zone has the truly dangerous beings.

12. He Birthed A Child With Wonder Woman

In the end of "Kingdom Come" it's revealed that Wonder Woman is pregnant with Superman's child and it's a girl. Only Superman could make Wonder Woman his baby's momma.

11. Women Want Him

He's macked on Wonder Woman, he's been in a long relationship with gorgeous journalist Lois Lane, he was in a relationship with gorgeous girl next door Lana Lang, the mermaid Lori Lemaris, and who can forget Maxima, a character devoted to trying to get Superman in to bed?
