6 Alternate Versions Of Spider-Man Across The Multiverse

6. Spider-Boy

EARTH-9602: The Amalgam universe introduced a number of unique characters based off of the combination of Marvel and DC characters. While only appearing in two runs of issues and the main Marvel vs DC crossover event of the '90s, a few of these characters left lasting impressions, including one based off of one of the matchups that fans were able to vote on to determine the winners of Marvel vs DC. Superboy and Spider-Man (Ben Reilly) faced each other in battle, with Spider-Man coming out on top of a fairly disappointing battle. When the two universes were merged to create the Amalgam universe, former foes were combined to make Spider-Boy. Pete Ross was a super-powered clone of Peter Parker who received his powers during an attempt to replicate the process that created Super Soldier (Superman/Captain America). Able to defy gravity and walk on walls, Pete was adopted by General Thunderbolt Ross, who was later killed by a mugger. This inspired Pete to team up with Project Cadmus as the Amazing Spider-Boy, complete with his trusty web-gun and the inventive team at Cadmus.
Spider-Boy and Cadmus faced a number of similarly-merged villains, like Bizarnage (Bizzaro/Carnage), King Lizard (King Shark/Lizard), Kang the Time Conqueror (Kang/Time Trapper) and the Frightful Five (Frightful Four/Fatal Five). The character fit in well with the clone themes running through both Spider-Man and Superboy's storylines, and it was a shame we didn't get to see more from the fun character.
