6 Reasons Valiant Will Be The Next Big Thing In Comics
4. They're Attracting Strong Talent
Before Valiant relaunched itself in 2012, they brought in former Marvel executives and ever since they have hired on writers and artists that are either already big names or growing stars. Jeff Lemire has written multiple books for DC and will soon be taking the reins of a lead X-Men book for Marvel. He is currently writing one of the best psychological examinations of a superhero in Bloodshot Reborn.
Matt Kindt has had his series Mind MGMT on the New York Times bestseller list and now he writes the Valiant team book, Unity, Ninjak, and Rai. Multiple award-winner and best selling writer Fred Van Lente writes the over-the-top action of Archer & Armstrong. Robert Venditti was chosen to take over two different Green Lantern series for DC and has become the writer for Valiant’s flagship title, X-O Manowar and the lead on their latest big event, The Book of Death.
Joshua Dysart, another best selling writer, made his name coming up through indie comics and has become a work horse for Valiant; writing Harbinger, Imperium and co-writing their biggest event up to that point, The Harbinger Wars. Writer James Asmus, an award winning playwright, cut his comic book teeth writing several books for Marvel and Image comics and now he writes the comical adventures of Quantum and Woody. One of my personal favorites, The Death Defying Dr. Mirage, is written by Jen Van Meter who was nominated for an Eisner for her work with Oni Press.
